Serving Marion and Polk Counties

Mission Statement

We are a group of community minded citizens who build networks of friends and community through fellowship and service to others achieving as a group what individuals cannot do alone.

Club Focus

Literacy, and Women and Children affected by domestic abuse

How can Altrusa benefit you?

In addition to the satisfaction of contributing through service, Altrusa offers its members many other personal benefits as well.  Many Altrusans have found that the skills and abilities required and developed through their involvement in Altrusa has helped them in their careers.

There are intangible benefits as well.  Membership in an organization that draws its members from a wide diveristy of professional backgrounds provides a stimulating opportunity to share experiences, views, and concerns with other active, vital and interesting people from around the world.  Altrusa is a place for fun and fellowship, too!

Would you like to get involved?
Altrusa International of Salem, Oregon meets on the first and third Thrusdays of the month.  For information about membership or the location of our next meeting please contact Patty Johnson at 503-587-8752 or [email protected]

Community Service Projects

Our club assesses community needs each year and each member has the opportunity to have input into our giving process. In the past, out club has helped to meet some of the many community needs. Service Projects planned for the upcoming year include: Care Kits for women and children seeking a safe haven from abuse. Back packs for children to start the school year. Learning Activity Bags for children who arrive at victim assistance shelters. Sweat suits for rape victims at hospitals.

Fundraising Events

We have three major fundraising events throughout the year. The largest effort is the Wine, Chocolate and More Festival. Our second event is the sale of wrapping paper products during the holidays. Finally, hosting a fun evening at Moon Fall Theatre brings in the rest of our clubs funds.

Proceeds from our fundraising events supports our community service projects as well as grants to other non-profits in Marion and Polk Counties.  Recent recipients of Altrusa International of Salem, Oregon grants are:
